ADAT Optical [ADAT]

ADAT Optical is a data transfer standard originally developed for Alesis Digital Audio Tape machines, which uses two channels of light as a carrier signal for eight tracks of uncompressed audio at at 48 kHz, 24 bit. The connections are made using fibre optic cables, with Toslink connectors and optical transceivers. It is still used today as a digital transmission protocol for linking digital audio devices.
