Path Loss

« Back to Glossary Index

In wireless microphone applications, path loss occurs when a transmitted signal is effected by refraction, diffraction, reflection, absorption or other environmental considerations that attenuate the RF energy, reducing the signal level available to the receiver. In audio engineering most path loss with wireless microphones or systems is short distance loss.
